What Is I Choose Joy About?

Ravensworth"s I choose Joy Philosophy

This Blog is about the I Choose Joy Philosophy and lifestyle I invented for myself. I do not claim to be the only one to have thought of a similar idea just the one that works for me. This will be a weekly blog about how I apply it daily to my life and how you can too. It is not trying to sell you anything, evangelize you or change your religion. I do use my own faith to help me but you can use whatever belief system you have to help you.

Many of us struggle daily with various problems that go beyond the normal everyday stresses that life throws our way. Some of us have chronic pain. Other suffer from depression or other psychiatric illnesses. Still others have serious illnesses that may even be life threatening. All of these things make every day living an uphill battle against anger, frustration, bitterness, envy and worse hatred.

I Choose Joy proposes to teach us to turn those emotions into something else, something positive. In the movie “Pollyanna”, Pollyanna called it the Glad game. I wish life were so simple as to choose something to be glad about in the face of such circumstances but it isn’t. Instead we must make choices. Very difficult choices.

This is where I Choose Joy Comes in. I personally currently suffer from chronic pain, depression, and a seizure disorder of unknown origin that is not yet controlled fully by medication. I live basically in a 12’ by 20’ room all day. I am married to the most wonderful woman in the world. I cannot drive or work. It is not safe for me to walk without someone home and the house I live in is not wheelchair “friendly”. I am told I should be miserable but I am not.

Every morning I wake up and decide if I am going to let my circumstances win define who I am or am I going to Choose Joy. I know I am over simplifying this and I am. But if you read my blog you will see how I came to learn how to do this every day and how most days choosing Joy wins. I am not perfect and some days I am human and feel miserable. But the days that I Choose Joy and win are great days. So please join me on this journey and learn to choose joy too. You need not have huge horrible problems either. I Choose Joy is for everyone.

This is the Day that the Lord hath made I will Rejoice and Be Glad in it.
