About the Author

Welcome,

I guess this is the space where I tell you a little bit about myself. Think of the handsomest man you know, with the innovative brain of Steve Jobs, the wit of Robin Williams, the mind of Stephen Hawking. Do you have a picture of that man in your head? Good because that isn’t me. I am not handsome or innovative or a genius or a comic. I am an ordinary 50 year old man who has lead an ordinary yet eventful life.
Now picture the most beautiful woman in the world, the smartest, kindest, wittiest, best cook, and best friend you have. Now you married men are probably thinking of your wives. You single guys need to stop dreaming of my wife and get your own thank you very much. Ladies if your husband does not think of you this way whack him in the head with a broom until he does. I am married to the most beautiful wonderful woman in the world.

I have plenty of skeletons in my closet and done lots of things I am not proud of. Plenty of dirt to dig up for those so inclined I am sure. At the moment I am working through a Seizure disorder of unknown origin. It keeps me from working. In addition I have clinical depression which is controlled by medication, chronic panic disorder which is controlled by medication, coronary artery disease which is controlled by medication, and a compression fracture of my second lumbar. Those are medical conditions. They are not who I am.
I am a 50 year old who acts 18 with limited mobility. I flirt with my wife in the grocery line to make her blush. I play role playing games every week and write them too. I love good music. I am a devoted member of my church. I love my cats, my “kids” (More about them later). I am a Miniature painter and gamer. I read 4 books at a time and read constantly. I am really overweight and hope to change that. But most of all I am really a happy man. Despite all of the setbacks I have experienced I Choose Joy every morning. It is a conscious decision. Do I let the pain and misery of disease and pain win so I am bitter and angry or do I choose to be joyful and let the pain and misery be handled by the Gospel of Jesus Christ?  I Choose Joy! That is who I am.

Many of you who have just read this will think oh no not another preacher. You are right I am not another preacher. The principles in the “I Choose Joy” philosophy will work for anyone. They are easier if you believe in the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and I will reference it often. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  However, I will not be trying to convert you. Please do not make the mistake of judging me before you know me. I am trying to bring joy to those who are in pain and suffering like I was for so many years. I have no agenda. I am not trying to sell anything to anyone.

Joyful is what you can be! Journey with me and learn to Choose Joy!
